A Parental Responsibility Agreement lets a child's mother agree that the father (or a second female parent) shall have parental responsibility for the child, under section 4 of the Children Act 1989. IMPORTANT: signing this form alone is not enough. To take legal effect, each person must sign in front of an authorised witness at a local family court (or before a justice of the peace or authorised court officer), taking proof of identity, and the completed form must then be sent to the Central Family Court to be recorded.
